Ordering & kitchen system for a home cloud kitchen
The problem
A home kitchen serving hostel students took every order on WhatsApp. At peak times orders got missed and students kept asking where their food was.
What we built
An ordering site with a menu, cart and checkout, plus a private admin dashboard: new orders appear live, the kitchen marks them cooking or ready, and delivery via inDrive or Bykea is tracked through to the hostel gate.
How it works
- 1Students browse the menu, add special instructions and check out on the site, with clear opening hours and a one-hour pre-order window.
- 2Each order appears instantly on the kitchen's private dashboard, where it's marked as cooking and then ready.
- 3Delivery is booked through inDrive or Bykea and tracked to the hostel gate, so customers can see where their food is without messaging.
- 4WhatsApp stays available for questions and bulk orders, but it's no longer the order book.
The result
No more lost WhatsApp orders at peak time, and far fewer "where's my food?" messages.
